Aria offers SoundPLAN acoustic modelling

Over the past four years Aria Acoustics has provided  acoustic modelling services to our clients using SoundPLAN© software to assist them in making informed design decisions for their projects.  This can save time and money at the planning stage of a project and help to prevent costly errors later in the process.

In the entertainment field, we have been appointed by Glastonbury Festivals, amongst others, to look at the on and off site implications of sound system coverage and the design and placement of acoustic barriers at the planning stage of the event.  We shall continue to  utilise these techniques on the Festival’s behalf.

Aria also assessed the design of a 60 MW biomass project for a power generating company.  We offered advice on the specification of the cladding performance of the building, the effects of plant noise and the optimum height of a noise barrier to comply with environmental permitting and planning authority requirements.

For an environmental planning consultancy, we have examined the implications of different roadside barrier heights and alignments for a proposed housing development to assist in the design of the layout of the scheme.

SoundPLAN© can also be used to predict construction noise and assist the preparation of S61 prior consent applications.

Please contact Aria to find out how these techniques can help you and your business.

Copenhagen Arena

In 2015 a new 15,000 capacity arena will open in Copenhagen.  Aria Acoustics has been appointed by Live Nation, who will operate the Arena, to provide them with acoustic advice as the design progresses.  The Arena will be built to the east of the city and will form the central focus for development which in time will include residential, employment and sporting uses.  The Arena will stage music, sporting and spoken word events and will require good internal acoustics to provide a superb experience for audiences.  A good neighbour policy will be operated, and the design will ensure that sound from the building does not affect future residents adversely.   We are very proud to assist Live Nation in helping them to develop the design of the Copenhagen Arena so that it becomes another of their world class venues.

Granary Square

This summer saw the opening of Granary Square, a new outdoor space in London close to St Pancras International station.   The Square is operated by Groundbreaking (www.wearegroundbreaking.com) on behalf of Argent, and Aria is pleased to be a part of the team bringing live music to the area.   The Kings Cross Regeneration project has created a place for living, working, leisure and learning on former industrial and railway land, and Granary Square is an integral part of this transformation.  It provides a welcoming place to spend time surrounded by the revitalised original Victorian architecture and the attractive new buildings.  The campus for St. Martins College of Art and Design, housed in a former 19th Century warehouse, forms the northern boundary of the Square and the Regents Canal flows along the southern edge.  Aria provided the sound management and liaison with Camden Council Environmental Health for ‘Eurostar presents Traction’ curated by Gilles Peterson in July, and ‘Africa Express’ in September featuring performances by Damon Albarn, Rokia Traore, Amadou and Sir Paul McCartney amongst many, many others.  We think that Granary Square is an excellent place to see and hear music outdoors in the heart of the city, and wish everyone involved every success for the future.
